About Me . . .

Over the past 25 years that I have been working with individuals, couples, and families, I’ve come to understand that often relatively small adjustments begin to move people in the direction of much more happiness and contentment.  The gap between our expectations of our spouse, our kids, our life and the reality we are living is often exaggerated by crisis events.  When we turn our attention away from the special traits that drew us to fall in love the first time, the magic of the gift of life born within our children, or the providence and grace that has brought us this far in life, we are in danger of missing the miracle that is already at work in our very own experience.

Please don’t misunderstand, I don’t deny the problems that prompted you to visit this website.  However, should you choose to work with me, you can expect me to ask you also about what is already working well in your life.

My Emphasis . . .

In psychotherapy, I turn your attention back to your strengths as a couple, your moments of awe as a parent, your talents and aspirations as an individual.  I turn your attention away from your pathology simply because I have come to understand that what we focus on together will expand.

The one constant in everyone’s life is change.  Things change.  This happens naturally.  How we prepare for change makes a big difference in whether we recognize and embrace positive changes when they come and whether we are able to attract them into our lives in the first place.

My Unique Qualifications . . .

Sometimes positive changes come in the form of a significant loss.  I have experienced a number of losses that have become positive turning points in my life.  During college, I had to drop out of school for a time because of illness.  But, my illness was a teacher, and I returned to school more focused and mature.  As aspiring motion picture screenwriter, I lost a contract to the rights to an inspiring true story that was already in development and was blacklisted in Hollywood.  I went to graduate school and got a doctorate.  Now, I work with people daily who’s stories are equally inspiring.  And, I’m using my gifts as a writer to re-write people’s actual lives!

My Values as a Therapist . . .

You have a story that you haven’t fully lived yet!  Maybe you don’t have the storyline clearly in your mind, but God sees your story clearly in His.  When I begin work with you to bring your potential more fully into expression, we will focus on you as a whole person:  not only what you’ve done already, but also what you have the potential to do!  Are you living your dreams?  Did you leave anything behind that you’d like to revisit.  Are the hopes you had for your relationships fully realized?  Is your love fully alive?

Your future holds a promise.  I’d love to come alongside you to discover it!
